Overview
What is Erectile Dysfunction?
Erectile Dysfunction (ED) is the persistent difficulty in getting or maintaining an erection firm enough for satisfactory sexual activity.
Occasional erection problems can occur, but persistent ED may be associated with blood-flow problems, diabetes, hormonal issues, medications, psychological factors or other underlying health conditions. ED can also be an indicator of cardiovascular risk in some patients.
Important: Erectile dysfunction may be linked to diabetes, heart health, hormonal issues or lifestyle factors. Temporary relief medicines are not enough in every case. Proper evaluation helps find the real cause and guide the right treatment.

Diagnosis
How We Diagnose Erectile Dysfunction
A detailed evaluation helps determine whether ED is related to vascular, hormonal, neurological, psychological or other health factors.
- Medical & Sexual History – Evaluation of symptoms, medical conditions, medications and sexual health.
Physical Examination – Assessment of penile health and other relevant physical factors.
- Blood Tests – Tests may be recommended to assess blood sugar, testosterone and other relevant health markers.
- Penile Doppler Ultrasound – In selected patients, Doppler ultrasound may be used as a second-level test to assess penile blood flow.
- Lifestyle & Medication Review – Existing medications and lifestyle factors are reviewed to identify possible contributors to ED.
